Let's have a talk with artist Annee Schwank
Hi Annee, can you talk a bit about yourself? What’s been going on in your life lately?
Let’s see, what’s there to really say about myself? I’m pretty boring actually. I work a lot, and then when I’m not working I watch bad television, movies, make more art and get up at 5am everyday.
Do you like what you do right now, what would you change?
I’m pretty happy with what I do. I’m glad that over time I just evolved into this somehow. I wish I could work more efficiently with ink in my illustration. I use it a lot in my figure work and landscape drawing, but I don’t use it in my illustration. I’m a little intimidated by that kind of commitment.
What are your inspirations when you create art?
I’m inspired by a lot of things! Generally, it’s the news, conversations in passing, sexy things and gory gross things. Luckily, I get to be around extremely talented and creative people everyday so they are pretty great and they bring out my competitive side.
Do you have any artists that really inspire you?
Yes! I am inspired by so many artists its impossible to list! Old masters, new artists whose talent is just out of this world! I have a zillion links bookmarked with different artists websites and blogs and lots of art books.
What would you do with a million dollars?
Give a nice of chunk of it to my family. Pay off my student loans and my car, relocate, set up a nice studio somewhere, and buy my cats the finest in luxurious feline wares. Then I’d save the rest for a rainy day.
Do you have any musical preferences?
Yes!!! Well no, But I love to talk about music with other people and listen to new artists, but no one really cares. So I imagine all these scenarios in which I’d tell someone how amazing some band or album was and we’d banter back and forth about it. Is that pathetic? Maybe a little bit…
